If you find yourself wandering the quaint streets of Stoke-on-Trent, a culinary gem that deserves your attention is Stoke Cafe. Located on 81 Church St, this cozy cafe has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike. With its simple yet charming atmosphere, you’ll feel immediately at home as you step inside.
Stoke Cafe specializes in hearty fare that’s perfect for breakfast or lunch. The star of the menu is undoubtedly their jacket potatoes. Ranging from a classic plain version for £4.80 to more extravagant offerings like the Chilli Con Carne & Cheese Jacket Potato priced at £6.90, each potato is fluffy and cooked to perfection. Guests have raved about the quality, with one patron describing the texture as “very nice and fluffy.” Still, some flavors may not meet every expectation. For instance, while the chicken filling offers convenience, it might fall short for those expecting higher quality ingredients.
In addition to jacket potatoes, the cafe offers a delightful array of toasted dishes. From classic Eggs on 2 Toast priced at just £3.90 to the more substantial 2 Poached Eggs on 2 Toast With 2 Slices of Bacon for £5.50, every item screams comfort food. The vibrant atmosphere, complemented by friendly staff and soft background music, allows you to truly savor each bite. Patrons like Paul James Harris appreciate the homey feel and cleanliness, making it a reliable spot for a midday meal.
But if you’re after something a bit different, don’t miss out on the oatcakes. With flavors like Bacon & Cheese and Sausage & Mushroom & Cheese, all priced under £4, these delightful treats represent a quirky twist on traditional fare. Guests have found them perfectly cooked and generously filled, though some have noted the cheese can be a bit chewy – an important tip for cheese lovers heading in!
What’s more, Stoke Cafe brings a refreshing approach to cafe culture: it prides itself on being no-frills. Alexis Chadwick, a frequent visitor, lauds the consistent quality and the warm service that awaits you every week. The reviews consistently highlight the inviting environment, where you can enjoy good food while engaging in lively conversation or simply unwinding after a long day. However, it’s worth noting that the cafe operates on a cash-only basis, though a nearby ATM resolves this minor inconvenience.
In summary, Stoke Cafe is not just a meal; it’s an experience woven into the fabric of Stoke-on-Trent. Whether you're starting your day right with a comforting breakfast or enjoying a fulfilling lunch, this cafe offers a delightful array of options that all fall within a friendly budget. So grab your friends, relish the simplicity of good food, and discover the cozy charm of Stoke Cafe.

The food was lovely and delicious, the place was quite and staffs were really nice. Sure a great place for breakfast. They only accept cash but there is cash machine close by so it's no problem . Will definitely be coming back.

A good lunch to be had here, a nice and clean environment. Friendly staff, and pleasant background music playing. As to the meal, I had a sausage & cheese oatcake, followed by a bacon & cheese oatcake; washed down with a mug of tea. The oatcake (not to be confused with a flapjack), was nicely cooked; as it was still soft. Both the bacon and sausage fillings were generous; a quick note regarding the cheese, it was very tasty, but chewy. The tea came with the bag still in, and the waitress didn't mind that I asked for some more milk.

Good quality cafe food. No frills. Very clean and good service always. I visit almost every week for a quick breakfast and the standard doesn't waver. A proper caff! Has changed hands since my review and I don't go there now ...

I popped in for a take away jacket potato, the potato was very very nice fluffy and just right , my only sadness was I had a chicken sweetcorn and mayo filling, I was expecting chicken breast but it was cheap waifer thin cheap chicken from a pack, for 6 20 I would have expected chicken breast. Staff were nice , can't comment on the atmoshere as I was on the only one in but I found it strange they had cross ryrhms blasting from the radio , kind of weird blasting out Christian rock, I think a BBC stoke or national channel would be better .
